Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension.

The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).

Trigger Point Therapy

A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. A trigger point in the back, for example,

May produce referral pain in the neck. The neck, now acting as a satellite trigger point, may then cause pain in the head. The pain may

Be sharp and intense or a dull ache.

Trigger point massage therapy is specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release.

This deactivates the trigger point allowing the muscle to relax. Treating a trigger point can alleviate the referred pain felt elsewhere.

Swedish Massage

Soft tissue massage, also referred to as Swedish massage is a general systematic massage of the soft tissues of the body to induce a

State of deep relaxation.   It works mainly on the muscles, ligaments, and tendons, and it increases the body’s blood and lymphatic

Circulation.  It incorporates e long gliding strokes, kneading, compression, vibration, and tapotement.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial

Connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. Many patients seek myofascial treatment after losing flexibility or function

Following an injury or if experiencing ongoing back, shoulder, hip, or virtually pain in any area containing soft tissue.  Other conditions treated by

Myofascial release therapy include Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disorder, carpal tunnel syndrome, or possibly fibromyalgia or migraine headaches.

Soft Tissue Massage

Soft tissue therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body i.e. muscles, connective tissue/fascia, tendons, ligaments and joints. Soft Tissue therapy helps alleviate the soft tissue discomfort associated with every day and occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many.

Chronic pain conditions. If employed early enough after accidents involving trauma and injury, soft tissue therapy can greatly reduce the development of painful muscular patterning.

Foot Massage

The Chinese foot massage has been practiced for centuries and is a popular pastime in China. The process consists of a foot bath

Followed by an intense massage on various pressure points in the feet, ankles, and legs. For many Westerners, a traditional Chinese

Massage can be painful the first time.

Cupping

Massage Cupping is an adaption of ancient technique and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Glass or plastic cups along with vacuum pump create a negative

Pressure on the skin’s surface. Cups are then moved using various techniques while gently pulling up. Bony land marks such as spine and scapula which

are often avoided (due to compression because typical massage would cause pain), can be worked on.

The cups can also be parked or left on a particular area for short duration to facilitate joint mobilization or soft tissue release. Suction reaches deep into

Soft tissue, attachments and organs. Toxins, inflammation, blood and lymph are then pulled to the skins surface. Health and healing are promoted by

Loosening soft and connective tissue, therefore visible improvements are seen in scars and adhesions. The outcome is increased circulation, lymph

Flow and the sensation is truly indescribable.

The marks that are commonly left from Massage Cupping treatments are the desired result. Massage Cupping therapy may produce discoloration, called

a “cup kiss” or “doo-hickey.” If this appears during the treatment, it’s just an added bonus indicating the release of intense stagnation (body fluids and toxins)

in the area. It is also unlikely that it will re-occur in the same area.

European Facial

The Classic European Facial, also commonly called a spa facial, is a quick, simple, and often very relaxing way to improve and maintain your skin’s overall

Appearance, especially if done on a regular basis. A typical facial involves thoroughly cleansing and exfoliating the skin, then massaging it to boost circulation

and encourage lymphatic drainage. One or two masks will be applied, followed by toners and moisturizers appropriate for your skin type.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the oldest and most commonly used medical procedures in the world.  It is a key component of traditional Chinese medicine that

originated in China over 5,000 years ago. The intent of acupuncture is to alleviate pain and suffering by promoting health.  The method by which this is

accomplished, though it may seem strange and mysterious to many, has withstood the test of time and continues to be validated today.

Acupuncture uses fine, slender needles to stimulate areas along specific channels of the body.  There are over 500 specific points, or “acupoints”, located

on our body.  Each acupuncture point elicits a different response to our nervous system, endocrine system, hormonal system, and vascular system.

In this manner, it can reprogram any malfunctioning organ or signalling system.  There are currently modern approaches and variations such as Laser Acupuncture.

With such a wide variety of conditions treated, such as arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and sciatica, several processes have been proposed to explain the effects of acupuncture. Acupuncture points are known to stimulate the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) to release chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord,

and brain. These chemicals either change the experience of pain or release other chemicals and hormones, which influence the body’s self-regulating systems. The

biochemical changes stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.

There are three main mechanisms:

1.Conduction of electromagnetic signals: scientists have found evidence that acupuncture points are strategic conductors of electromagnetic signals. Stimulating

points along these pathways through acupuncture enables electromagnetic signals to be relayed at a greater rate than under normal conditions. These signals

may start the flow of pain-killing biochemicals, such as endorphins, and of immune system cells to specific sites in the body that are injured or vulnerable to

disease. Activation of opioid systems: Research has found that several types of opioids may be released into the central nervous system during acupuncture

treatment, thereby reducing pain.

2. Changes in brain chemistry, sensation, and involuntary body functions: Studies have shown that acupuncture may alter brain chemistry by changing the release

of neurotransmitters and neurohormones. Acupuncture also has been documented to affect the parts of the central nervous system related to sensation and

involuntary body functions, such as immune reactions and processes whereby a person’s blood pressure, blood flow, and body temperature are regulated.

3. Increasingly, acupuncture is complementing conventional therapies. For example, doctors may combine acupuncture and drugs to control surgery-related pain

in their patients. By providing both acupuncture and certain conventional anesthetic drugs, some doctors have found it possible to achieve a state of complete

pain relief for some patients. They also have found that using acupuncture lowers the need for conventional pain-killing drugs and thus reduces the risk of side

effects for patients who take the drugs.
